30.5M motor yacht Ursus on sea trials at Balk Shipyard

Following an extensive rebuild, the 30.5-metre motor yacht Ursus is out for sea trials. The superyacht was seen on the IJsselmeer in The Netherlands. Conducted by Balk Shipyard, the sea trials ensure that every system functions as intended, refining the yacht’s performance before she is officially delivered to her owner this spring.
Throughout the trials, Ursus is tested in real conditions, with careful attention given to propulsion, stability, maneuverability, and onboard comfort. Equipped with Veth propulsion rudder propellers, a dynamic positioning system, and advanced navigation technology, the yacht is designed to deliver precise handling and efficiency. The seawater cooling system, electrical setup, and other technical systems are thoroughly assessed to confirm reliability and performance.
Ursus underwent a 18-month rebuild at Balk Shipyard. The bow and stern were removed and replaced, adding extra space at both ends. The tender garage was relocated, creating a new seating area in the bow, while a twin anchor system and an additional crew cabin were integrated. Additionally, the decks were upgraded with FSC-certified teak, and the hull was repainted to align with the latest Range Rover livery Batumi Gold.
The yacht also received advanced technical upgrades to ensure optimal performance, including the addition of new electric pods. A seawater cooling system was installed to maintain ideal conditions in the technical spaces, and the yacht was equipped with new Veth Azimut drives from TwinDisc. While the Volvo Penta D9 main engines and Stamford 22DkW generators were retained, the extended hull required an adjusted setup to maximise power. Additional enhancements include a Veth bow thruster for improved manoeuvrability, Furuno navigation systems, and wing stations for precise maneuverability.
Balk Shipyard will deliver the yacht to its owner this month.
